Free Enneagram Test
Find your Enneagram type, your wing and your score on all nine types. When two types finish close, the test asks you to choose between their core motives head to head, so you get a result you can trust and a confidence level that tells you how sure it is.
Rate how much each statement sounds like you. Answer for how you have been most of your adult life: this week’s mood and the person you would like to be both skew the result.
What you get from this test
All nine scores, free
You see your score on every type as a chart, which matters because the second and third types often explain as much as the first.
A tie-break round
If two or three types finish within 12 points of each other, you choose between their core motivations head to head. Most mistypes happen between close types, and this is where they get separated.
A confidence level
The result says high, medium or low confidence based on the gap between your top two types, so a narrow result reads as one.
Nothing stored, no email
Your answers stay in your browser. The result lives in its own link, which you can bookmark or share.
What is the Enneagram?
The Enneagram describes nine personality types, each organised around one core motive: a fear the type tries to avoid and a desire it keeps reaching for. Two people can do the same thing for opposite reasons, and the Enneagram sorts them by the reason. That is why its tests ask about motives more than habits.
The nine types sit on a circle. Your neighbours on the circle are your possible wings, and the lines across the circle show where each type tends to move under stress and in growth. Those three ideas (type, wing, arrows) are what most people use day to day.
The nine Enneagram types
Compare them side by side on the Enneagram types overview, or see how they pair up on the compatibility chart.
The three triads: gut, heart and head
The nine types fall into three groups of three. The gut types (8, 9, 1) organise around anger and control, the heart types (2, 3, 4) around shame and image, and the head types (5, 6, 7) around fear and security. Knowing your triad narrows the search when two types feel close.
Enneagram wings
Your wing is the neighbouring type you lean toward. A Type 4 has either a 3 wing (4w3, more outgoing and driven) or a 5 wing (4w5, more private and cerebral). The test reports the wing with the higher score.
Stress and growth arrows
Each type has two lines to other types. Under stress it picks up the average traits of one; in growth it takes on the healthy traits of the other. Type 7 under stress turns critical and rigid like an average 1, and in growth becomes focused and deep like a healthy 5.
Enneagram test FAQ
Which Enneagram test is the most accurate?
No Enneagram test has strong independent validation yet: a 2021 systematic review in the Journal of Clinical Psychology found mixed evidence and called for better studies. In practice, a test is more useful when it shows all nine scores, separates close types and tells you how confident the result is, which is what this one does.
Is this Enneagram test free?
Yes. The test, your type, your wing, all nine scores and the confidence level are free. There is no email gate and no account.
How long does the Enneagram test take?
About 6 minutes. There are 45 statements, plus up to 6 head-to-head questions if your top types finish close.
How do I find my Enneagram wing?
Your wing is whichever of your two neighbouring types scores higher. The result page names it, for example 4w5, and each type page explains both wings.
What if my top two types are close?
The test runs a tie-break round between them. If the result still comes back with low confidence, read both type pages and use the mistype check on each, which compares the two types’ core motives.
Can my Enneagram type change?
In Enneagram theory your core type stays the same through life, while how healthy it looks changes a lot. If you get a different result months later, the usual reason is stress or a life change pulling you toward one of your arrows.
Is the Enneagram scientific?
Partly. Some studies find links between Enneagram types and Big Five traits, but the evidence base is small and uneven. Use it as a vocabulary for motives and patterns, and hold the result loosely.
Do you store my answers?
No. Your answers stay in your browser during the test and are deleted when it ends. The result is encoded in the result link itself, so no database holds it.
